Holiday Sickness

In the unfortunate event that you do become ill whilst on holiday, we advise that you seek medical attention whilst in the resort as this will greatly increase your chances of making an eligible claim for your discomfort upon your return.

The Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992 covers any packaged holiday you have taken out in the past 3 years. With these regulations in place any illness or injury caused as a result of negligence from your tour operator can be compensated for.

If you have suffered with an illness whilst on your holiday we want to hear from you, even if you believe you do not have sufficient evidence to claim.

Buffet Food

Buffet food is often re-used for a couple of days if it is not consumed on the first day. Storage temperatures and hygiene standards can create breeding grounds for unsafe bacteria.

Typical Symptoms

Contaminated food can cause problems with the digestive system and this can take from a few days to a few weeks to clear out. Symptoms can include stomach cramps, vomiting, diarrhoea and headaches.

Risks to children

Children are more prone to risks such as dehydration and can cause illnesses and bugs a lot quicker. As long as your child was under the age of 18 during your holiday, a claim can be made up to 3 years later.

Many people are simply too busy to visit their GP on return or feel they are well enough to avoid going.

This isn’t strictly essential in getting your claim underway. Such cases are dealt with on the balance- of probabilities. We consider the amount of evidence, along with any details of the illness you have suffered against the number of reported illnesses from your hotel. If we have had previous reports of similar illnesses by other guests, it is more than likely that we can pursue your claim.
