If a person has worked with certain chemicals or dusts or irritants, it is up to their employer to provide protective clothing while they work.

 

Different types of lung diseases:

Allergic Alveolitis

Caused by inhalation of biological matter, such as hay or compost. Silicosis – this is caused by exposure to silica dust and often afflicts coal miners. In some cases, it can cause cyanosis.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) – one of the most common respiratory diseases in the UK, this disease is characterised by the blocking, inflammation and narrowing of airways as a result of dust inhalation. COPD refers to any lung disease that affects the body in this way, such as bronchitis and emphysema.

Many jobs, such as mining or stone cutting, require workers to be exposed to a large amount of dust all day. This dust can be very fine. if it reaches your lungs damage can be caused and over a long period of time this damage can lead to a lung disease.
